Individualized therapy for individuals of all ages and abilities.

Therapeutic Riding
Our therapeutic, or adaptive, riding lessons cater to individuals with special needs, providing a unique environment where riders can learn horsemanship and riding skills tailored to their personal needs and learning styles. We welcome riders of all skill levels, from those experiencing their first encounter with a horse to advanced independent riders. While the primary focus is on developing riding skills, many participants and their families notice significant therapeutic benefits, including enhanced physical strength, balance, coordination, mobility, self-confidence, peer interaction, language skills and social skills.

Our adaptive riding instructors design engaging games and exercises to suit each student's specific needs. Lesson plans are customized to consider the rider's physical, emotional, and mental strengths and challenges. Activities include arena riding, unmounted work, and group exercises. With the support of trusted horses, skilled instructors, and dedicated volunteers, riders are encouraged to explore new experiences and achieve their personal goals.
Therapy with Integrated Equine Movement
At Young Hearts Therapeutic Riding, therapists utilize the movement of the horse to address clients’ areas of target, including balance, strength, endurance, coordination, communication, social skills, and attention. This therapy, often known as "Hippotherapy" focuses not on teaching specific riding skills, but on fostering independence in daily activities and enhancing participation in family, school, and community life.

In partnership with Circle Creek Therapy, families attending Young Hearts are able to receive occupational, physical, and speech therapies, in addition to behavioral health interventions. The gentle nature of horses can be transformative for children with special needs. The rhythmic movement of the horse stimulates the rider's muscles, joints, and sensory systems, promoting strength, improved posture, and enhanced overall mobility.
Beyond the physical aspects, equine-assisted therapy also yields profound emotional and psychological benefits. The bond between humans and horses is inherently therapeutic, fostering feelings of trust, empathy, and emotional connection. Interacting with horses in a supportive environment can help children develop confidence, self-esteem, and emotional resilience. The nonjudgmental nature of horses enables individuals to express themselves freely and process difficult emotions.
